The List of Every Possible Trump 2024 VP Pick

With the Presidential election coming this November, there has been a lot of speculation about who Trump will Pick as his vice presidential running mate. The Republican party has remained relatively mum on the subject, but that has not stopped many media outlets from discussing the potential candidates. The following is a collection of every potential Trump vice president pick. This list is based on a variety of news sources that have informed sources closely tied to the Republican party. These perspectives are based on internal discussions being had with the former president of the United States and his close inner circle.

10. Mike Pompeo

Who is Mike Pompeo?

Mr. Pompeo previously served in Donald Trump’s administration as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from 2017 to 2018. He was also the 70th United States Secretary of State from 2018 to 2021 and served in the United States House of Representatives from 2011 to 2017.

Why Mike Pompeo Could Be Trump’s VP Pick

The former CIA director has been mentioned as a strong running mate possibility. He is noted for his composure, steadiness, and calmness. This would bring a good balance to Trump’s boisterous and aggressive personality.

Mr. Pompeo also brings with him a long list of impressive accomplishments including serving a variety of positions in the federal government, being a prominent lawyer, a small business owner, attending Harvard Law School, and graduating first in class at West Point.

Pompeo could help bring in, on the fence voters looking for a sense of stability; he may very well be, the type of balance some voters are looking for.

9. Greg Abbott

Who is Greg Abbott?

Gregory Wayne Abbott is an American attorney, jurist, and politician. He is currently serving as the 48th governor of Texas, doing so since 2015. Abbott served as a justice of the Texas Supreme Court from 1996 to 2001 and the 50th attorney general of Texas from 2002 to 2015, as a member of the Republican Party

Since the Reconstruction era, Abbott was the third Republican to serve as attorney general of Texas. He was elected to that office three times, first in 2002, reelected in 2006, and again reelected in 2010. Abbot was the longest-serving attorney general in Texas state history.

Why Greg Abbott Could Be Trump’s VP Pick

Donald Trump has said publicly that Gov. Greg Abbott is on his short list of potential vice presidential candidates for his 2024 presidential run. They are perfectly aligned politically, with Abbott endorsing Trump, and Trump singing his praises repeatedly.

With border security becoming a hot topic in the last year, a running mate with a lot of experience handling this issue directly would greatly appeal to right-wing conservatives.

However, Abbott has stated that he is content being the governor of Texas and hopes to run for reelection. Is this a ploy to throw off the opposing party? Time well tell.

8. Nikki Haley

Who is Nikki Haley?

Nimarata Nikki Haley served three terms in the South Carolina House of Representatives, beginning in 2004. She would also serve as the 116th governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017. Nikki would go on to be the 29th U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018. She is the first Indian American to serve in a presidential cabinet.

Haley was a candidate in the 2024 Republican Party presidential primaries, winning the Washington, D.C. primary on March 3, 2024, and becoming the first woman to prevail in a Republican Party presidential primary. She had previously served as the president of the National Association of Women Business Owners.

Why Nikki Haley Could Be Trump’s VP Pick

As a former ambassador to the United Nations during the Trump administration, Haley demonstrated a mostly conservative record. However, her demeanor is considered much more tempered than Trump’s, positioning herself as more of a moderate.

Generally speaking, While Ms. Haley and Trump mostly align politically, she could bring in a different ideological stance to the ticket that could help entice more moderate voters. However, this pick would be a bit shocking, considering their current relationship has become a bit tumultuous.

7. Vivek Ramaswamy

Who is Vivek Ramaswamy?

Vivek Ganapathy Ramaswamy is an American entrepreneur and politician. He has had many highly successful business ventures. These ventures include founding Roivant Sciences, co-founding Campus Venture Network, and working at the hedge fund QVT Financial, where he was a partner. He has a reported net worth of USD 1 billion.

Why Vivek Ramaswamy Could Be Trump’s VP Pick

Ramaswamy declared his candidacy for the Republican Party nomination in February 2023, in the 2024 United States presidential election. After finishing fourth in Iowa’s caucuses, he would suspend his campaign in January 2024.

Ramaswamy and Trump would go on to appear on stage together at a campaign event in New Hampshire, where Vivek would fully endorse the former president. During the event, Trump insinuated that Ramaswamy might work as part of his cabinet if he were re-elected. Vivek holds and expresses a lot of the same political values as Trump, but he is a much stronger and more charismatic public speaker.

Trump has stated publicly that he is a big fan of Ramaswamy. Their alignment could bring a powerhouse duo to the campaign, with Vivek functioning as the primary public speaker at major events. However, Vivek’s personality is seen as polarizing by some, which may hurt his chances of becoming Trump’s potential VP.

6. Elise Stefanik

Who is Elise Stefanik?

Elise Marie Stefanik is an American politician. She is currently serving as the U.S. representative for New York’s 21st congressional district. Stefanik is the fourth-ranking House Republican, serving as chair of the House Republican Conference since 2021. Elise Stefanik graduated from Harvard College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in government. She was elected vice president of the Harvard Institute of Politics in 2004 and received an honorable mention for the Women’s Leadership Award.

Why Elise Stefanik Could Be Trump’s VP Pick

Initially, Elise kept her distance from Trump but has since become one of his staunchest supporters. Primary voters have expressed their opinion of her as positive, and Trump has mentioned her as a possible candidate for VP.

Serving as a U.S. representative for New York makes her an appealing choice, as Trump is eyeing more support from the state.

Who is Ben Carson?

Why Ben Carson Could Be Trump’s VP Pick

The former president and Carson share a history of collaboration. As mentioned Carson served in the Trump administration as the secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Unlike many other members of Trump’s cabinet, Carson remained in his position throughout Trump’s presidency.

Even when running against each other for president in 2016, there was seemingly no rivalry between the two opponents. Despite this history, Trump and Carson demonstrate a peculiar camaraderie during debates. This, along with their history of working together, has kept the door open for many to speculate that he will be Trump’s pick for vice president of the United States.

JD Vance came to prominence with his 2016 memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, which was a New York Times bestseller and attracted significant attention from the press during the 2016 United States presidential election.

Why JD Vance Could Be Trump’s VP Pick

Initially, Vance was a harsh critic of Donald Trump during the 2016 election. He would eventually change his stance after announcing his candidacy for the Senate. During his time in the Senate, he has become a consistent Trump loyalist.

Many who are close to the republican party acknowledge that Vance’s political stock has risen recently. He possesses the two traits Trump is looking for in a running mate, a winning reputation and devout loyalty. Trump has also praised the Senator consistently.

3. Kristi Noem

Who is Kristi Noem?

Noem attended Northern State University from 1990 to 1994 but left college early to run her family’s farm. While serving in Congress, she would eventually complete her BA in political science at SDSU in 2012.

Why Kristi Noem Could Be Trump’s VP Pick

Noem has been a loyal supporter of Donald Trump for years. During a TV interview, the former president confirmed Noem is a serious contender for VP selection. Ms. Noem has said she preferred working with Trump over Biden, characterizing her working relationship with the former president as more productive.

In October 2022 she announced that she had left the Democratic Party.

At the age of 21, Gabbard was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 2002. She would go on to serve in a field medical unit of the Hawaii Army National Guard while deployed to Iraq from 2004 to 2005. Ms. Gabbard was also stationed in Kuwait from 2008 to 2009 as an Army Military Police platoon leader.

Why Tulsi Gabbard Could Be Trump’s VP Pick

Tulsi Gabbard has gone from running for president as a Democrat in 2020, to showing interest in the open VP slot for Trump. Gabbard offers some appealing and unique positives that would appeal to Trump on a prospective ticket. She has taken positions on both sides of the abortion rights battle and generated a viral debate moment against Kamala Harris, during their bids for president.

Tulsi Gabbard is an intriguing prospect as Trump’s potential VP, as over the last few years, she has appeared on many conservative-based political broadcasts. The general sentiment about her amongst moderate conservatives is quite favorable. However, her previous bid for the Presidency may hurt her chances.

1. Tim Scott

Who is Tim Scott?

Scott served on the Charleston County Council from 1995 to 2009, a state representative from 2011 to 2013, and a U.S. Representative as a member of the Republican Party. Before entering politics, he worked in financial services.

Nikki Haley, appointed Scott to the U.S. Senate in 2013 to fill a vacancy and would retain his Senate seat after winning a special election in 2014. Why Tim Scott Could Be Trump’s VP Pick

Tim Scott is high up on the list as a potential vice president choice. Previously running against Trump in the primaries, they have recently formed an alliance where the South Carolina senator has been enthusiastically campaigning for the former president.

Many informed speculators feel Scott is the best strategic pick as Trump’s vice president, since he is the Senate’s sole Black Republican and a vocally passionate Trump supporter. Several pundits believe he is the definitive pick for the job.
